Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is a family man! Whenever he is busy shooting or travelling abroad without his wife Twinkle, and son Aarav, he says the pain is unmatched.
“I know everyone thinks an actor’s life is grand, but believe me filming everyday of the year & having to miss even 1 day of my son’s life is more painful than getting kicked in the head!!,” Akshay posted on his Twitter page.

Stephen Harper unveiled his party’s platform Friday, but an appearance he made later in the day with Bollywood star Akshay Kumar could be more important to the Conservatives’ fortunes in the fiercely contested Ontario riding of Brampton-Springdale.

Dozens of shrieking fans greeted Harper’s bus as it pulled up to a movie theatre playing Bollywood music. Harper and his wife, Laureen, made a grand entrance with the Indian actor, who has appeared in more than 100 films.

For the record, most of the fans were screaming for Kumar, although Harper was asked for his autograph by at least one person.

Akshay Kumar, who otherwise never attends premieres, certainly regretted making an exception for his wife Twinkle’s co-produced film, Thank You.
The actor along with Bobby Deol was all geared up to attend the film’s premiere at Chandan theatre in Juhu.
However, the Mumbai traffic did not spare even the Bollywood A-listers, who had to ditch their wives and hitchhike a ride with an absolute stranger.
An eyewitness gave us the details, “Akshay and Bobby stopped a surprised passerby, on a motorbike. They hopped on double-pillion and proceeded to the much delayed premiere screening.”
In a Bollywood inspired move, a crowd ran behind the motorbike all the way to the theatre.
Anees Bazmee recalling the mayhem, told us, “It was a sight straight out of one of my comedies. We were waiting for Akshay and Bobby at Chandan, when we saw them riding into the venue on a stranger’s motorbike with a huge group of people running after them.
We had no clue what was happening, until the flustered boys told us that the road leading to Akshay’s house was blocked with traffic.”
After breaking traffic rules riding triple seat on a bike and that too without helmets, Kumar and Deol refused to go along with the elaborate plans made for the evening. Bazmee adds, “We had hired elephants to take the two actors inside the theatre compound.
Quite understandably, Akshay and Bobby were in no mood to ride elephants after the wild motorcycle ride .We just let the elephants loiter at the premiere as part of our invitees.

India has a huge market for animation films but the , homegrown industry has to move beyond mythological themes, says talented actor Ranvir Shorey, who has just given the voiceover for the Hindi version of the 3D Hollywood film “RIO“.
“India has a huge market for animation films, but is yet unexplored. Hollywood has a festival out of every release of the animation film that they do. It’s like a carnival for the grown-ups and for the kids,” Ranvir told IANS in an interview.
“I don’t think we have managed that in the Indian film industry as yet,” he added.
The actor of films as diverse as “Khosla Ka Ghosla” and “ Singh is Kinng” is certain that homegrown animation would definitely have an audience if it improved.
“It’s like the egg and chicken story, you know. How is Hollywood coming out consistently with good products — right from ‘Jungle Book‘ in the 60s? They are cultivating animation and it’s not an overnight thing,” Ranvir said.
“So we need to do something similar here, you know. They have to find a digital voice, which is not happening right now.”
“What’s happening is we locally produce either like a TV serial or like a Bollywood film with singing and dancing and not doing a good animation film of it,” Ranvir said.
He said there was need to improve the way animation was made here instead of blaming the audience.
“Homegrown animation needs to improve… The audience is always ready for something good,” he added.
Production houses need to depart from Indian mythologies and create something new.
“They always go for mythologies because it already has a popular base. They are so scared of having something completely different and original,” Ranvir said.
“Animations also need budgets. We need somebody with the right script and the producers who have faith to mount that kind of production because we definitely have the talent in India. We need more entrepreneurship from the production sector,” he added.
The actor always longed to be a part of animation films, a dream fulfilled by the chance to do the voiceover for “RIO”.
“I was always very keen to be part of animation films. Finally I got a chance. It was a fantastic experience. I gave voiceover for the character Nico and Vinay (Pathak) for (Pedro),” Ranvir said.
“It’s a nice comedy. I would like to do more voiceovers like this,” he added.
Ranvir and his wife Konkana Sen-Sharma became the proud parents of a son recently.
“I am very happy becoming a father. We are settling into a new life,” he said.
The couple tied the knot last year and Konkana gave birth to their first child March 15 this year in a South Mumbai hospital.
Indian animation films have tended to focus overwhelmingly on mythologies such as “Arjun – The Warrior Prince” or “Lav Kush – The Warrior Twins“.

The Indian actor Akshay Kumar was in the UAE recently to promote his new comedy film that pokes fun at married life.
The narrative of Thank You, a Hindi-language film, centres on three friends who cheat on their wives while professing their everlasting love for them.
“I think it’s a very important subject for women and men,” said Kumar, 43, who was in Dubai ahead of the April 7 release. “We show how strong women are. We speak about how they should face such situations and come out winners.”
He plays a marriage counsellor bent on sounding the alarm to trusting wives and goading them to confront their straying husbands. Just how the wives respond forms the plot of the comic caper with the tag line “Husbands will be sorry, wives will say ‘thank you’.”
Though Kumar, one of Bollywood‘s top actors, is best known for action films, he has carved out a niche in slapstick comedies, appearing in a dozen of them in a career that includes over 90 films.
“People want to be entertained, they want to laugh when they leave the theatre and I want to see them smile,” he said, adding he still loves the action genre. While films about infidelity are not new to Bollywood, Kumar hopes the film’s bluntness will engage audiences.
“What is wrong with showing what reality is all about?” he said. “We are not in the Stone Age and this is something that does happen. In fact, there is a line in the film that goes ‘Yeh har teesre ghar ki kahani hain‘ ['This is the story of every third home'].”

The film features Irrfan Khan, as well as Bobby Deol and Suniel Shetty. The new generation is represented by Sonam Kapoor, 25, who has shot just four films.
“It’s been a great learning ground to have so many strong actors around me,” said Kapoor, the daughter of the veteran actor Anil Kapoor. She plays Deol’s wife, who is confused to find chemistry develop with Kumar’s character.
“It’s about a woman searching for the truth who figures out she is worth more than what she is getting in life,” said Kapoor.
“Personally I think it depends on the situation and the man. If he is truly a jerk, I’d say ‘just leave’. Stay if you think it’s worth it, if he is worth taking a chance on.”
Dubai is a popular launch pad for Bollywood films because of its large Asian community. It has featured in numerous Indian projects, including Kumar’s early films. He said he plans to shoot his next film in the emirate next year but declined to provide details.
However, Bollywood fans are often disappointed by the industry’s promotional events. Kumar fans were thrilled to see him but said it was not worth the four-hour wait at a desert campsite. The actors turned up at 11pm, too late to participate in a film promotion with a Dubai-based couple who renewed their marriage vows.
“We were all excited about coming close to a star, that was the cherry on the cake,” said Akash Khanna, who won the contest to have the renewal staged in a specially created venue. “People felt bad that the stars were on stage for only 15 minutes after a very long wait. People just wanted to shake his hand and meet him.

Sajid Nadiadwala’s Akshay Kumar starrer, Housefull 2, may become the first Bollywood film to be shot in NASA’s Weightlessness Chamber. The Hollywood films which have been shot there are Apollo 13 (in 1995) and Armageddon (in 1998). While working on the script of the Housefull sequel, director Sajid Khan conceptualised a comic sequence in which Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Ritesh Deshmukh and Rahul Khanna are required to be suspended in the air and they have to cross each other’s paths.Akshay Kumar’s NASA shoot later this yearIf such a sequence were to be picturised with  cables, they would get entangled when the actors crossed each other’s paths. That is when Sajid Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala thought of the Weightlessness Chamber of NASA. The two-day shooting stint will be held there between July and September this year.
